The trips

If you are lucky, make good use of the sections in shallow waters to observe the riverbed; You might find some gold...

The freshness and purity of the water and the presence of about 20 different species of fish and invertebrates make for sufficient feeding resources for numerous species of birds.
If you pay a little attention you will be able to observe them.

Like the neighbhouring Dordogne, la Vézère is a very rich and diverse approx.ment

Description of the trips :

Tursac - Les Eyzies
10 km, approx. 2h00

Embark your canoe nearby a charming 340 inhabitants village. You can see, perched atop a nearby hill, the Castle of Marzac. After a few narrow curves in he river where you can touch the bottom of the cliffs, you will come up to the site of La Madeleine with its castle and troglodytic dwellings, a Chapel and a few traditional houses. These cliffs where inhabited by men from the prehistoric times until the early 20th century.
Let the calm and quiet surrounding nature carry you along the river in this enchanting ride.
A few paddle strokes away you will find the majestic site named "the end of the world" with its "7 brotehrs cliff", not far from "The Big Rock" and "The Gorges of Hell"…

Shuttle departure times: from 9:00 to 16:00

Le Moustier - Les Eyzies
13 km, approx. 2h30

la maison forte de Reignac

This is the "Classic" ride; not too long, not too short, and you can enjoy most of the sites of the valley.
Starting off in front of the very impressive troglodytic dwellings of the Roque Saint Christophe the sets the mood for the ride: time traveling through prehistory and the medieval period. Limestone cliffs with caves and terasses overlooking the Vézère
Following are, among other sites, the Fortified House of Reignac nestled in the hollow of the cliff, and not too far the troglodytic dwellings of la Madeleine.
The nature here is magnificient, and you might be mlucky enough to see trouts, carps, pikes, catfish jumping out of the water…

Shuttle departure times: from 9:00 to 16:00

St Léon sur Vézère - Les Eyzies
19 km, approx. 4h00

la roque saint christophe

Dont be overwhelmed by the length, as this ride won't stop surprising you. All along the ride you will be able to observe troglodytic dwellings, such as the Roque Saint Christophe. This imposing 80 meters high and 1 km long limestone cliff has been occupied by men and arranged as a fort to protect its dwellers for a very long time.
Plan to bring along a Picnic, as you will finish your ride in the afternoon.

Shuttle departure times : 9:00, 10:00, 11:00

Château de Losse - Les Eyzies
24 km, approx. 5h00

château de Losse

This is the longest ride, and therefore the most impressive and also the most arduous and thoughest, especially in summer when the current is the weakest. We recommend it for people who are fit and in good general condition.
No less than 4 castles in the first 5 kms !

Shuttle departure times : 9:00, only with advance booking

Le Bout du Monde - Les Eyzies
4 km, approx. 1h00

le Grand Roc

This very short ride is perfect for beginners who want to test the waters before trying a longer ride and also for famillies with young children, or simply for those a little short on time !
Short, but beautiful. In the Vézère valley, we call « bout du monde / end of the world» the very inside of a very narrow meander. We can therefor proudly claim that we have more than one " end of the world "!
This one deserves its name, as it is truely a mgnificient site that will make you feel miles away from anywhere.
You will ride along the " 7 brothers " limestone cliff, and then in a last straight section, you can enjoy the sites of Laugerie, Grand Roc, Gorge d’enfer / Hell Gorge, and the fortified church of Tayac.

Special hours for this ride :
July and August: 4:00 PM, 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM departures only

Les Eyzies - Le Bugue :
12 km, approx. 3h00

falaise vallée de la vézère

Starting from our base, you can see the many different limestone cliffs, typical from this area of the Vézère Valley. The caves the river dug in the cliffs have long been the favorite dwelling sites for the local populations. When arriving in Le Bugue, you will see the village Le Bournat, which exemplifies rural life in Perigord.
However, people rarely pick this ride because of it present much less interrest.

Bus ride back from Le Bugue.
