DURATION 4H / 4H30
19 KM TRAIL

DEPARTURE ONLY IN THE MORNING
There are only morning departures for this long itinerary which requires 4 hours paddling work. Plan to bring a picnic.

Departure is from the nautical stop in the center of St. Léon, classified as one of “France’s most beautiful villages”. If you’re lucky, during the first 6 kilometers you’ll catch a glimpse at some of the area’s fauna and flora, such as a falcon or kingfisher. You will then arrive at one of the valley’s most important sites: the troglodyte town of the Roque Saint Christophe. Perched on a vertical cliff a kilometer long, this site was inhabited from prehistoric times through to the 16th-century Wars of Religion, offering protection to its inhabitants over the centuries.
For hungry adventurers, there is small restaurant hidden behind one of the numerous cliffs you pass that you can get to by walking up a small stream. If you’re interested, we’ll explain where to get off as it can be a little complicated.
